PocketWiz
Need a hand with PocketWiz? Email michael.donkor@digitaljungle.tech and I’ll get back to you. Bug reports and feature requests are genuinely welcome — PocketWiz is built and maintained by one person, and most of what gets added comes from people writing in.
If you’re reporting a problem, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened.
Saving things
PocketWiz saves from anywhere on your iPhone through the iOS share sheet. Open a link, photo, or screenshot in any app, tap the share button, and choose PocketWiz. The item lands in your library straight away.
If PocketWiz doesn’t appear in the share sheet, scroll the app row to the end and tap More, then enable PocketWiz. You can drag it further left in that list to keep it close to hand.
You can also add a link manually from inside the app using the add button.
Finding things again
Search looks across more than just titles. A single query is matched against:
- Titles of the pages and items you save
- Notes and descriptions you have written
- Tags, including the ones PocketWiz suggests automatically
- The website an item came from
- Text found inside your screenshots and images, read on your device
Text recognition runs entirely on your iPhone, so search keeps working with no connection at all.
Collections
Collections are optional. Everything you save goes into your main library whether or not you file it, so you can group things when it helps and ignore collections completely when it doesn’t. An item can sit in a collection and still be found through search.
The free plan and PocketWiz Pro
PocketWiz is free to use and free to keep using. The free plan holds up to 500 saved items. Items in Recently Deleted don’t count toward that number, so clearing out things you no longer need frees up room.
PocketWiz Pro removes the limit and unlocks the full toolkit. It is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.
Purchases and subscriptions
Restoring a purchase. If you have reinstalled PocketWiz or moved to a new iPhone, open the Pro screen in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with — purchases are tied to that account.
Managing or cancelling a subscription. Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by PocketWiz. Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, and choose PocketWiz. You can change plan or cancel from there, and cancelling leaves Pro active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Refunds. Apple processes all payments and handles refunds directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. I have no ability to issue refunds myself, but do write to me if something went wrong — I’d like to know either way.
Deleting and recovering items
Deleted items move to Recently Deleted rather than disappearing, and stay recoverable there for 30 days before being removed permanently. You can restore anything from that screen, or empty it yourself to reclaim the space sooner.
There is also an optional auto-delete setting that clears out older saves for you. It is off unless you turn it on, and defaults to 90 days when enabled.
Your data
Everything you save — links, screenshots, images, notes, tags, and collections — is stored only on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded to a server, and no account is required to use the app.
Because your library lives on your device, keeping iPhone backups switched on is the way to protect it. Syncing a library across several devices isn’t available yet.
Full details are in the PocketWiz Privacy Policy.
